About
A painting, to be lifelike is for me, a long, suggestive process.
I create a multi-layered working surface. Forms emerge. Colors assert themselves.
Finally, the paint in its earthly wisdom begins to choose: No, that must go now.
Pursue this. Darken here. All is lost. Be bold. Brighter!
Finishing is exciting. The picture appears purposeful.
A natural thing in a playful state.Walter Schrank, NYC 2025
