Beneath The Astral Streak, 2023
Since its arrival yesterday, I have been reading Walter Schrank’s new poetry book, “Beneath the Astral Streak,” with awe! The lean formatting welcomes the reader. Deft bridging dazzles the mind as Schrank artfully links sensual references with physical and historical icons. Surely Walter Schrank has surpassed himself. I think this volume is even more wonderful than the oft-read, “Battle Cries of Every Size,” on my night stand.
5 Star review for Walter Schrank’s new book Beneath the Astral Streak. He goes micro he goes macro, presenting his personal forcefield of poems to deal with and retaliate against the perpetual nonsense and insanity we are being bombarded with daily, and he does it with a smile, perhaps even a smirk. . .

Battle Cries of Every Size, 2020
Celebratory and tough-minded with a scope entailing multiple perspectives, the everyday and cosmic views and the detritus of deep time.
Slim book. Big world.
You’ve written a roaring rondo.
These haiku length poems, small barbarisms, were written on the streets and subways of New York City, the Greek island of Evia, pastoral Northern California, the pine thicket of East Texas and along the Gulf Coast.
